RIDERS travelled far and wide to take part in a fun ride across Bodmin Moor in aid of St Breward Football Club.

Sixty-six riders strolled or cantered across the moor on Sunday, August 16. The fun ride was organised by Bodmin Lions in support of the refurbishment project at the football club and included a long ride of 12 miles beneath the two highest peaks in Cornwall, Roughtor and Brown Willy.

A short ride of eight miles together with a walk/lead rein route of three miles were included to allow riders of all levels of abilities and age to participate, together with optional jumps at various stages of the rides.

More than £1,092 was raised towards improvements at the football club.

Kerry Dingle, who worked with the Lions to organise the Fun Ride, thanked everyone for their help and support.

She said: “It was a great day and our well marked route gave riders from across Cornwall the opportunity to ride over the moor in a safe and organised manner.”

The football club is holding many fundraising events towards the refurbishment project. Since the launch of the project at the Bodmin Lions Ten Tors Event in May, £9,536 has been raised towards the £100,000 needed.
