THE Annual Models and Collections Exhibition organised by Holsworthy Vehicle and Engine Rally committee, one of the most enjoyable events in the town's calendar, was held at Holsworthy Community College last Sunday March 25, writes Christine Williams.

On display were model cars, trucks, tractors, trains, ships, planes, working models and a large variety of collections, many of which owed their existence to the patience and skill of their owners.

Model railways were much in evidence with six lay-outs and some large scale models of locomotives among which was 'Mountaineer'. The original steam engine had been built for the British Army's use in France during the First World War then purchased for the Ffestiniog Railway.

It took John Mills of North Cornwall Model Engineers Society 22 years to build from scraps of metal he had picked up while working in Egypt, Libya and Saudi Arabia. This was one of several large scale models including two battle ships that won the society the best in show trophy.
