CORNWALL Council is offering free parking in all of its car parks all day on Saturday, December 5.
The council said the aim is to encourage residents to shop locally and to boost trade in Cornish towns. The initiative means anyone will be able to park in any Cornwall Council-run car park on December 5 for free.
A council spokesperson said: “Despite having been set a stringent target in the budget to increase the income from council-run car parks which is then used to help ensure roads in Cornwall are maintained and safe, this year it looks likely that our car parks will do well.
“As a result we are in a position to support Cornish businesses in town centres by offering one free day of parking in the run up to Christmas.”
There are 118 Cornwall Council run car parks across Cornwall. All its car parks are clearly branded as Cornwall Council car parks and have its signs in them. It will also be displaying posters at the charging points.
