A SPECIAL framed shirt will now adorn the walls of the Westgate Inn in Launceston in memory of former owner Mark Jenkins following a presentation at the pub last Thursday.

Mark was a longtime supporter of Launceston Rugby Club Minis and Juniors, and before his passing last year agreed to have the Westgate logo printed on the right-hand shoulder of the shirt, and is worn by all 240 plus members of the section, which have teams in every age group from under 7 right up to under 16s.

The framed shirt was presented by the minis and juniors’ vice-chairman Peter Sandercock to Mark’s widow Jo and current landlord Jonathan Jones.

Peter said that Jo and Jonathan were well up for the idea when it was mentioned to them.

He said: “Mark was very passionate about the minis and juniors and Jo said it’d be great to tie it in with his 50th birthday which was last Thursday.

“Friends and family attended the presentation, where there were a few tears shed.

“Jonathan said a few words and then I said a few as well. The shirt is going to go up next to Graham Dawe’s shirt.”
