IF Bude played every game the way they played the first 15 minutes of Saturday's match against Wootton Bassett they'd be unstoppable.
Something seemed to click and Bude were playing two touch hockey — their quick passing meant that within the first couple of minutes Briony Varcoe had taken Bude into the lead.
Players of the match, Leanne Stanbury and Tammy Snowsill were a force to be reckoned with, their passing and movement leaving the home side flummoxed.
Tammy quickly added to Bude's lead and with two more goals in quick succession, she had completed her hat-trick in the opening 15 minutes.
Although they continued to play well the score remained 4-0 at half time.
Wootton came out fighting in the second half but Miranda Pomeroy, Pam Johns and Caroline Hobbs were unfazed and confidently defended whenever the home side broke.
Naomi Hatcher, Sam Horn, Kirsty Heslop, Robyn Pengilly and Emily Horn worked well in midfield before linking with Tammy, Briony and Perdi Sobey up front.
Bude's quality of hockey in the first 15 minutes was repeated in patches throughout the match but despite their chances they could not increase their lead.
Wootton also had chances to gain a goal, especially when they were awarded a penalty flick. However, a superb save from third player of the match Jo Timmins, meant they were also denied. Even when they went down to ten players in the last few minutes, Bude were able to keep their clean sheet.
Team: Perdi Sobey, Briony Varcoe, Tammy Snowsill, Leanne Stanbury, Robyn Pengilly, Emily Horn, Naomi Hatcher, Kirsty Heslop, Sam Horn, Pam Johns, Miranda Pomeroy, Caroline Hobbs and Jo Timmins.
