The former mayor of Holsworthy was proud to present two cheques to her chosen charities, following a successful year of fundraising.

Cllr Helen Parker’s mayor’s charities for 2022/23 were Lymphoma Action and Breast Cancer Now.

Thanks to the support and generosity of the people of Holsworthy and surrounding area £2,900 was raised and will be equally divided between both charities.

Money was raised via the ‘Mayor’s Civic Dinner and Dance’, ‘Mayor’s Summer Garden Party’, and coffee mornings.

Special thanks went to all those people and organisations who helped make the events a success and especially to Holsworthy Bowling Club who nominated the mayors’ charities for their ‘Charity Fund Raising Day’ for 2022.

Cllr Parker said: “Both the charities are important to me due to breast cancer and lymphoma blood cancer having affected me in a personal and profession way.”

A spokesperson added: “Lymphoma Action saying ‘Thank you so much for your wonderful donation of £1,450 from Cllr Helen Parker’s charity of the year fundraising events last year.  What a wonderful amount to have raised — we are so grateful to you.”
