BUDE retirees and their relatives are invited to join former British Olympic champion, Dame Mary Peters, to celebrate the official opening of McCarthy and Stone’s retirement living development, Pen Morvah, on Friday, September 21 from 2.30pm.
The free event will be held at the development on Bramble Hill in Bude, and hosted by Dame Mary Peters, who won the pentathlon gold medal at the 1972 Olympic games.
Dame Mary (pictured) will be giving a welcome speech to mark the official opening as well as performing a special ribbon-cutting — and she will then be on hand to meet and talk with guests about her experiences as an Olympian and sporting ambassador.
Guests will also have the chance to meet the friendly staff at the development, take a tour around the show apartments, and enjoy some drinks and nibbles.
Dame Mary said: “I am delighted to be invited to officially open Pen Morvah. I have had the pleasure of visiting a number of McCarthy and Stone developments in the past, and each time it is lovely to hear how the homeowners are enjoying their new surroundings and about the friendly communities that form so naturally there. It will be a wonderful event, and I would encourage local retirees and their families to come down on Friday, September 21 and join us for a special tour and a chat.”
Exclusively aimed at the over 60s, Pen Morvah comprises a stylish collection of 31 one and two-bedroom retirement living apartments, which will offer Bude retirees the opportunity to downsize and maintain an active, independent lifestyle, surrounded by like-minded individuals.
Prices at the development currently start from £220,000 for a one-bedroom apartment and £290,000 for a two-bedroom apartment.
Kevin Sims, regional sales and marketing director for McCarthy and Stone South West, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Dame Mary Peters to officially open Pen Morvah and formally introduce the development to locals in the area. Dame Mary will take part in a ribbon-cutting ceremony, along with some of our first homeowners at Pen Morvah, and we will all be raising a glass to celebrate the official opening.”
Facilities at Pen Morvah include a stunning homeowners’ lounge, ideal for socialising with friends, landscaped gardens fully maintained by the experienced on-site team, plus a convenient guest suite should homeowners have friends or relatives to stay. A dedicated house manager, who will also be available to meet at the event, ensures the day-to-day running of the development, and a security entrance system and 24 emergency call points provide homeowners and their families with additional peace of mind.
