PEOPLE are advised to avoid the Roydon Road area of Launceston this evening as a bus has caught fire.

Just before 6pm this evening (Friday, August 29) reports were received locally of a huge smoke plume coming from the Roydon Road area of Launceston.

It was later discovered to be emanating from a Go Cornwall Bus which was well alight.

The police Inrix system confirms: “Reports of slow traffic due to vehicle fire on B3254 Roydon Road both ways near Roydon Close.

“Roydon Road both ways partially blocked, slow traffic due to vehicle fire near Roydon Close.”

Fire crews have been reported on scene and appear to have the blaze under control.

Local resident Kelly Garrett has supplied footage of the blaze being tackled and images of the aftermath of the scene.
