FOLLOWING the launch of the Affordable Foods store in Bude last weekend, the new store has already proved to be a flying success.

The grand opening of the new Affordable Foods store saw a queue of keen new customers waiting outside, ready to get their hands on the bargains that the business has to offer.

Sue Jenkins, one of the two managers of the shop, said: “Saturday was really good, we had really good reports and we’ve received a great amount of praise.”

Charlotte Danks, the brains behind the business, attended the launch on Saturday, as well as Bude’s well-known Kingsley Bryant, who officially opened the store.

Sue added: “We’re chuffed with all of the positive feedback, and it’s great to hear people say that their friends have been in, and people have been recommending us.

“There isn’t a lot of money for some people in Bude, and it’s great to see that those on a budget can now afford to buy their daily food produce.”

Sue said Affordable Foods Bude has been as busy as their launch day, with people from all over coming along to see what the shop has to offer, including those from Launceston and Holsworthy.

Mr Bryant was pleased to be asked to conduct the official opening of the shop, and he wished Charlotte and the staff well in the new venture.

He said: “Being a coastal resort with a lot of people on non-contracted hours and the minimum wage, a lot of people are finding it harder and harder to make ends meet. I think it’s a good idea.

“I know they’ve been very busy the last couple of days. With Bude residents often being seasonal earners, it makes sense to have something like that in the town.”
