IT has been two years since WI members have been invited to attend a cookery demonstration and the Cornwall Federation staged two in November, one at Carnon Downs on Monday, November 15, and a second one at the Coads Green Village Hall on Thursday, November 25.
The evenings were presented by home economics committee members, Alison Gribble and Pat Mallett, from Coads Green, who posed the question “What’s in my Trolley for Christmas 2021?”
The assumption was that members would know how to cook a Christmas dinner but that it would be useful to know how to make the leftovers taste as good.
Each cook prepared three dishes, which were a combination of sweet and savoury and included Christmas pudding truffles, a chocolate roulade, a Chinese dish, a delicious pate, a tasty stew and a macaroni cheese, which used up the remnants of the festive cheeseboard. The appreciative audiences were given an opportunity to taste the dishes and the recipe sheets were sold out. The cooks were thanked by Rosemary Slee, herself, a former demonstrator.
The presentations were enjoyed by all who attended, who took great pleasure from the return of a much missed event on the social calendar.
