FIREFIGHTERS in Bude are asking motorists to be mindful after they had to find another route to an incident when a car blocked the road.

They were called to a small pile of wood on fire on the edge of Crooklets beach at around 8pm on July 13.

When travelling to this incident the fire engine was unable to pass a parked vehicle. Firefighters said the car was not parked illegally, however, the appliance could not get past.

On this occasion they were able to find another route.

A spokesperson from Bude Community Fire Station said: “We desperately urge drivers to think about larger vehicles and the emergency services when parking. Please, think before you park.”

Crews used a hosereel to extinguish the fire.
