THE members and friends of St Teath Methodist Church chose the Harvest Festival Celebration, as the time to hold their final service at the church.

The service was led by the Rev Bryan and Mrs Sue Ede, and the organist for the occasion was Mrs Mavis Kingdom who was a former Sunday School Scholar and member of the church.

The congregation was joined by members of St Teath Parish Church, Delabole Methodist Church and friends from the surrounding area. The members of the St Teath Parish Church Choir sang the anthem ‘All Creatures of our God and King’ during the service.

Those sharing in the service were caused to reflect on the history and impact of the Methodist work in St Teath over the past 240 years, as well as celebrating the harvest. The congregation was invited to respond to the needs of people overseas with their offering which amounted to £270.40 for the Christian Aid Harvest Appeal.

During the service Rev Ede presented a certificate to Mr Don Bannister in recognition of his 27 years’ service as an accredited local preacher in three Cornish circuits.

Prior to becoming accredited as a local preacher Mr Bannister had served as a circuit helper in preaching for some 40 years.

Many thoughts and memories were shared over coffee, tea and biscuits at the conclusion of the service.
