THE recent Boyton Christmas lunch, held in the village’s Methodist Church, fed over 60 festive, and hungry, residents.

On Thursday, December 1, 62 members of the community flocked into the Methodist Church in Boyton to tuck into a delicious Christmas lunch, cooked and prepared by Ray Willis and his army of volunteers.

This is Ray’s third lunch since the Boyton Lunch Club was started again, after the club came to a stand-still a few years ago, when the individual running it decided to not continue with it any longer.

Ray’s first lunch was in August, with another in October and his third one on December 1. Another lunch is due in February 2017.

Ray said: “The lunch went very well; everybody seemed to enjoy it, and there wasn’t a bad comment said.”

He explained that the lunches are a popular community event, adding: “It’s certainly building up. I did expect the Christmas lunch to be bigger, but it does bring people together and hopefully it will become more popular as it goes on.”

The Boyton Lunch Club currently set prices at £5 for each lunch, and all profits made from the lunches go to the upkeep of the Methodist Church.
