ON SUNDAY, June 18, the Friends of Bude Sea Pool held its fourth Big Lunch, a UK annual get together for neighbours.
What an afternoon! The weather was glorious and perfect for a day by the pool. People donated cakes and brought along picnics, and a barbecue was provided by Life’s a Beach.
The event kicked off at 2.30pm, with music and entertainment organised by Jeff Palmer, Mark Rosser and the GMC Choir.
Taster sessions were held in the water with Bude’s water polo team, Bude Canoe Club and Bude Sharks.
Eden Project’s ‘The Big Lunch’ is a community event, which has grown ten-fold and each year gets bigger and better.
The Friends of Bude Sea Pool volunteers put on a great afternoon of entertainment and fun for all to support the event.
Following the event, a spokesperson for the Friends of Bude Sea Pool wrote on Facebook:?“What a great day by and in the pool — the community certainly enjoyed the afternoon!
“Bude Sea Pool is delighted to announce that over £450 was raised by the guys at the barbecue and Bude Sea Pool’s tea and cake stall!”
The charity has extended thanks to all local businesses and organisations that helped make the day a success, as well as those who came along.
