WHEN it comes to running events, Bude’s six-mile lifeboat run takes some beating.
Approximately five miles of flattish, picturesque cycle and foot path up one side and down the other side of the canal, with approximately a mile of climb and decent in the middle, which rises well above Whalesborough Farm, with fantastic views of Widemouth Bay.
The full report and results were printed in last week’s Post, and Camelford Up and Running group entered a team of 28 runners into the evening run, with eleven children taking part in the one-mile fun run, which took place a little before.
Both runs were very well supported with a sell out, 450 capacity for the adults’ race and approximately 400 children entered into the fun run.
The children all started their run in timed intervals and within their year groups. The first child completed their mile run in just six minutes and 28 seconds!
For Camelford Up and Running, this was the third time some had taken part in this event, but for some members of the running group, this was by far the furthest distance ever ran!
Some members had literally joined the running group a couple of months ago as ‘non runners’ and trained very hard for this.
For one lady, this was the first running event entered since 1990!
Matt Allan from the group said: “Everyone had a great time, with an amazing team effort by all. Thanks have been extended to Bude RATS running club and everyone else who helped assure the event ran smoothly.”
