ALTHOUGH they did not win, English Heritage’s Tintagel Castle team were full of praise for the architects and designers who helped create their now iconic footbridge.
The footbridge at Tintagel Castle had been shortlisted for the Royal Institute of British Architects’ (RIBA) Stirling Prize for the UK’s best new building. This came hot on the heels of its win in the RIBA South West Award. Unfortunately they just missed out on the top prize but were still pleased to have made it to the finals.
A spokesperson said: “So close but it wasn’t to be. Congratulations to Kingston University, winners of RIBA’s Stirling Prize for the UK’s best new building.
“We thank our designers William Matthews Associates and Ney & Partners, as well as Julia & Hans Rausing Trust without whom this stunning footbridge wouldn’t exist.”
