JULIE Charlton's granddaughter, Faith aged 12, from Boscastle, has significant learning difficulties and mobility issues for which she wears a leg brace.
She decided she would bravely have her long hair — 12 inches — cut off for charity.
So a large crowd gathered at the Napoleon Inn in Boscastle to watch hairdresser Carolyn Edwards cut Faith's hair into a short bob style.
A raffle was also held and Faith raised £592.71 and around £100 in gift aid.
There were donations from many well-wishers, including £50 from The Boscastle Buoys and £50 from 'Uncle Paul's Emporium'.
The charities that will benefit from Faith's kindness are the Little Princess Trust, which makes real hair wigs for children who have lost their hair through illness, and 'Abi's Wish To Walk'. A girl from Camelford, who is at the same school
as Faith, Abi Crowther has cerebral palsy and needs an operation to help her walk pain-free.
Thanks were expressed to all who helped on the day and to those who made donations.
