Holsworthy Golf Club Veterans turned out in force for the monthly stableford, another round in the Winter Eclectic competition with the players overcoming the conditions very well indeed with some excellent scores record.

Alan Richardson thought he had done enough to top Division I but the best was yet to come, Des Best's 42 points bettering Alan's 41, however, Alan Abrams went ahead to win, the back nine deciding the issue, he too scoring 42pts.

The Division II had Ben Tole as a clear winner with 41pts with Roger Turner and John Bullman second and third with 39 and 37pts respectively.

The Ladies too have been busy with the December stableford followed by the Turkey Trot. Gwen Adams was easily the best, her 24pts being well ahead of Ely Walmsley and Barbara Abrams in the minor positions.

As for the Turkey Trot the occasion was graced by two suitably dressed Fairy Tinkerbells in the shape of Margaret Slinger and Gwen Adams, their pink attire lighting up the proceedings although their efforts on the course brought little reward.

Ely Walmsley and Betty Byrne had the best better ball score of 37pts ahead of lady captain Yvonne Bowler and her vice-captain Barbara Lake 32pts, followed by Pauline Bezzant and Hilary Dorren 31pts.

Following on from the golf the ladies enjoyed Christmas lunch prepared by Jo and Caroline, much to everyone's delight, rounding off an excellent day.
