LAUNCYCLE 2010, a new sponsored family bike ride around the Launceston area, is set to take place on Sunday, July 11.
The event, organised by LauncestonCycles in association with the Cornwall and Devon Police, will support Cancer Research UK, the Children's Hospice South West Precious Lives Appeal, the Launceston Memory Café and The George Appeal.
People are urged to sign up now to secure their places in either of the scenic 25 mile or seven mile routes, which follow quiet country roads around the Launceston area.
The event starts and finishes at Launceston College and numerous attractions are available on the day from 10am until 2pm. Activities to enjoy will include free face painting, unicycle demonstrations, sales of refreshments, charity stalls and display bicycles to try out.
Registration for the ride is £5 per adult (in advance) and children under 16 go free.
Once registered, participants will receive a fundraising pack with information about the ride along with sponsor forms to raise money for the four benefiting charities.
Lisa Drew, one of the organisers from LauncestonCycles, said "We hope to make this new family bike ride an annual event, and encourage as many people as possible to take part and cycle the lovely routes together raising much needed funds for charity.
"Every penny of the registration fees and sponsorship will go to the four charities, as the costs and time have kindly been donated."
Ride participants must be registered in advance to allow time for fundraising. Entry forms are available in various shops around Launceston. For more information call LauncestonCycles on 01566 776102 or email [email protected]">[email protected].
