LAWHITTON Horticultural Show took place on August 21, entries rose again this year with over 300 in total.

The runner bean class, with most entries, was won for the second year by Mrs Sue Goodyer.

The hall was packed with people eager to see if their hard work had paid off. Mr John Mann presented the prizes, commenting on how it was lovely to see a village show flourishing and being well supported by local people. A donation to Mr Mann's chosen charity, the RNLI, was presented to him and then the prizes were awarded.

Prize winners were: vegetable section — Mr George Bailey. Fruit section, The Glebe Vets Salva (new award for 2010) — Mrs Cicely Bailey.

Flower section — Cicely Bailey. Handicrafts — Mrs Sarah Mc Donnell. Cookery — Cicely Bailey. Photography — Mrs Marusia Forshaw and Mr Russ College. Art — Sandy Oakley Abigail Matthews. Junior under sevens — Finlay Moses. Junior eight to sixteen — Laura Dubey and Abigail Matthews.

Open class, home made scarecrow — the Parnall family. Best child's exhibit in show — Abigail Matthews. Most points in show — Cicely Bailey.

Everyone was thanked for all the hard work to get the show together and they hoped to see everyone next year.
