A CHANCE to gain more information about how locally owned projects in and around Holsworthy could help reduce energy costs and benefit the community will be offered at an event held in the White Hart Pub, Holsworthy tomorrow night (April 7).

There will be a chance to learn more about how locally owned projects, which can be set up by the town, can help to generate income for Holsworthy.

The event will help both the town council and Energy Analysis discover what sort of projects people living in and around Holsworthy would like to see taking place in their town.

Ben Eardley, senior consultant for Energy Analysis, said: “We are holding the event on April 7 as a way of getting the views and opinions of the local community of Holsworthy regarding what locally owned, renewable energy projects they want to see in the town.

“We are working with the town council to host an event, which will allow us to highlight what community energy is and to obtain the views of local people. We want to find out what local people would like to see with regards to energy projects in and around the town.

“We obtained funding from Devon County Council through the ‘Devon Accelerator Fund’, which has been used for this initial study. Once we have discussed with the local community the projects they wish to investigate the local community can move forward and apply for funding from the Rural Communities Energy Fund (RCEF).”

It is hoped that the event will enable the town council and Energy Analysis to gain a better insight into what it is the public want.

This will then give them the potential to take some of these ideas forward and apply for funding from the ‘Rural Communities Energy Fund’.

The event begins at 7.30pm and to book a place to have a say and hear more about the opportunities available to Holsworthy and the surrounding area contact Ben Eardley via email at [email protected] or call 07979 344555.

The event will include a free, hot buffet and refreshments.
