AN ENERGY Advice Centre has opened its doors in Camelford to members of the community.

Be Green Camelford is a not-for-profit organisation which is funded by Community Windpower Ltd, the developer behind the proposed renewable energy project, Davidstow Community Windfarm.

The aim of BeGreen Camelford (Camelford Carbon Neutral Project) is to promote home energy efficiency and alternative energy sources; and it is believed that these are measures that will not only make an important reduction to an individual's carbon footprint but at the same time also save money for each domestic household.

Information and assistance is available to those individuals and households seeking and completing applications for grant funding for energy efficiency measures such as loft and cavity wall insulation and for alternative energy systems.

Similarly for those households who are eligible for grants, and who spend 10 per cent or more of their annual income on fuel bills, and are located within the PL32 9 postcode area, additional top-up funding will also be available from BeGreen Camelford towards the cost of their installation.

Should the windfarm application be successful, substantial additional funding will be made available by Community Windpower Ltd to BeGreen Camelford on an annual basis and subsequently the postcode area currently covered may be extended.
