A young girl rode to success in the Woolsery Show’s horse section recently, receiving a very poigniant award.

Kizzy Okeefe, 16, of Bradworthy, entered her horse Princess Layla into Woolsery show and was placed 3rd and 5th in the showjumping classes.

Following her success at the show, she was approached by Eggesford Hunt Relay Team who asked her to take part. The team came second in the main ring, and Kizzy was awarded the Bradley Shield for ‘best junior rider’.

The Bradley shield is awarded in honour of Bradley John who took his own life and for Kizzy, who had recently lost her sister, felt very honoured to have been presented with it.

Kizzy also competed at the North Devon Show, and will ride in the British Nationals and the Championship of Great Britain, with the support of her local farrier, vet and osteopath who look after the horses.
