AT LEAST three elderly ladies who live in the Bude area received a nuisance phone call of a sexual nature between 9.35am and 11.15am Sunday, January 11, according to Bude Police.

Bude PCSO Jo Wilson told the 'Post': "By the nature of what was said and the description of the voice it appears to me the offender is the same person for all the calls. For one lady this was the second call from the same person she had received — one before Christmas and one last Sunday."

If anyone else has been a victim of these calls, but have not yet reported it to the police, please contact PCSO Wilson, who said any information is helpful.

Should you be a victim, there are various techniques which have helped in the past to deter a second call, including putting the phone down and not entering into conversation; telling them that the police are monitoring the line; and leaving the phone without listening it for a period of time, while they are paying for the phone call.

BT also have a nuisance phone calls service on 0800441422 and they can offer advice to members of the public. PCSO Wilson said that they are aware of the phone calls received in Bude and are noting any further reports from the Bude area.

"Once requested, BT can put an easy trace on the line to record the caller's phone details so I would most definitely ask you to do this too if you have suffered from a call."
