DELAWARE Primary Academy received a £4,000 cheque from Tesco Callington’s community champion, Carrie-Ann Bailey, during a recent school assembly.

The money was awarded to the school for the July/August round of in-store Bags of Help voting, where customers vote for their preferred project or scheme using blue tokens received at the end of their shop. The money, administered by the charity Groundworks, is raised by the sale of re-usable carrier bags.

Delaware Primary Academy will use the money from the scheme to refurbish their outdoor pond and nature area. Carrie-Ann Bailey said: “I can’t wait to visit the school again once the project is completed and see the difference, it’s great going to see children getting a chance to interact with nature on their doorstep.”
