STAFF and pupils at Holsworthy C of E Primary School are delighted to have secured funding through the Devon Community Foundation grant system for the installation of new windows and doors in their outdoor classroom.
Parents of children at the school, Serena Cole and Jane Ivey, wanted to help the school with their ongoing transformation of their outdoor area.
Outdoor learning is embedded into the curriculum at Holsworthy C of E Primary School with pupils accessing outdoor learning every week. It is not just the pupils and parents who are enthused by their outdoor learning with Mrs Thompson. Ofsted gave the school a glowing report following their inspection in June 2018.
The classroom that is situated within the Wild Tribe area, unfortunately, had no windows which made it extremely hard to carry out activities during the colder, winter months. With the grant received the school have been able to purchase new windows and double doors for the classroom.
The installation took place over the holidays and, upon their return to school in September, the children were so excited and amazed at the transformation that had taken place. Staff, children and parents expressed their thanks to the Devon Community Foundation committee for showing their support for the school and outdoor learning environment.
