FOR the first time in a long time Dunheved Bowling Club's opening was brought forward by a week, but the weather was perfect for the occasion, writes Peter Prynne.

The green was opened by Mrs Joan Uglow, she bowled the first wood and wished everyone a successful season.

Following this, eight ends were played and 38 players took part including a new member, the green played well. This was followed by a nice tea and draw.

President M Wood thanked everyone for attending and thanked Brian Lane and the green committee for all the hardwork done during the close season, special thanks to the ladies for the tea and draw.

Peter Prynne organised the afternoon drive and the winners of a chocolate treat were Dave Chesham, Peter Prynne and Brian Harris.

The booby prize for the afternoon went to the skip Eddie Cockwill, who has yet to score this season.

Access to the car park will be restricted this week as the tarmacing will be taking place, the coffee morning on Saturday 10-12 will take place as planned.
