DUCHY College’s floral display at this year’s Royal Cornwall Show has won a Silver Gilt award.
The Level 3 students at Duchy College have presented their stunning work at this year’s show in the Flower Tent, and have managed to earn themselves a Silver Gilt award, which is highly commendable considering it’s the students’ first year of showing.
With the support of tutor, Caroline Crabb, who received a silver award herself during the recent RHS Chelsea Flower Show, Karen, Rachel, Tracey and Laura produced a stunning floral display, which has been in the spotlight of the flower tent.
Although they couldn’t attend the show themselves, the students were supported by Duchy’s Level 2 students, Carol and Charlotte Browning, who were on hand at the show, selling beautiful flower pots to show goers and giving them an insight into the work of the Level 3 students.
Charlotte said: “It took the girls a couple of days to put together, and the planning started months ago, so a lot of time and hard work has gone into this display. Unfortunately, the students that produced the work were unable to come along to the Show, as they’re all working in industry themselves. But I’m sure they’ll be extremely proud of what they’ve achieved today.”
