Launceston Community Fire Station has announced a new initiative which hopes to remind drivers to be considerate when parking their cars.

The fire station will be posting leaflets on the windscreens of cars around the town in the coming weeks. While drivers may find some relief upon their return to find that this little yellow slip isn’t a parking charge, its message is just as important.

These notes hope to provide awareness to residents about emergency vehicles’ need for space.

A spokesperson from Launceston Community Fire Station said: “Our appliances are not the smallest of vehicles, and we sometimes struggle to navigate through housing estates when responding to emergencies

“Please be mindful of how and where you park and ask yourself if an emergency vehicle could get through if they needed to.”
