A double presentation took place in Holsworthy Memorial Hall on Wednesday, October 7. Holsworthy residents, Jane and Arthur Wright, were twice taken by surprise at this week's coffee morning in the Memorial Hall. The ladies and helpers who volunteer to make and serve tea and coffee each week, presented Jane and Arthur with a pot plant, chocolates and a stunning hand-made card to show their appreciation for all the help and support they have been given by the Wrights for many years. Jane and Arthur are leaving all hall duties behind after Arthur decided to stand down as Chairman of the Memorial Hall Committee at the recent AGM. Both have been instrumental in the hall's activities over the years, from the building of The Manor Suite, or Day Centre as it is also known, to the recent major rebuild and modernisation. Both helped instigate the fundraising necessary for these ventures and, on completion, jointly undertook day to day tasks such as bookings, setting up and running of the Thursday Film evenings and the much welcomed community coffee mornings, where Arthur's voice would always be heard calling the draw at mid-day. Just as the Wrights were appreciating the first presentation, silence was again called for by Mr John Addicott, representing the Memorial Hall Committee, who presented Arthur with an inscribed cut glass bowl for his endless work and dedication to the hall during his time on the committee. Jane was also presented with a canvas photo print of Arthur, taken in the hall, as appreciation for her many years of service and dedication. Arthur replied with a short speech of their thanks and told of his love for the building and over 25 years working with the Memorial Hall and his pride in helping to get it transformed to the modern and functional community centre that it is today.
