The money is to be used to purchase new and replacement riding equipment such as saddles, stirrup leathers, coloured reins, riding hats and more, so that the horses and riders are well presented at planned competition meetings.
The riders could be seen enjoying their riding session, indicated by the big smiles on their faces. The horses were very placid, gentle and well cared for.
Troy and Tabby, two of the centre’s horses, were also very mischievous, nudging their way to the front to be in the centre of a photograph!
Jennie Oakley said: “North Cornwall Riding for the Disabled Group will be celebrating its 40th anniversary later this year. We have 100 adults and children attending each week from schools and centres in Camelford, Bude, Wadebridge, Launceston and Bodmin. Through their riding experience, the riders gain confidence and self-esteem, improve their communication skills, and benefit from physical therapy.
“The centre at Lakefield Farm and Equestrian Centre, Camelford, is run entirely by the generous donations from the public, and we really appreciate this donation given by the Rotary Club of Camelford.
“We are always looking for volunteers, so if anyone is able to spare a couple of hours on Mondays, Wednesdays or Saturdays, please contact me at [email protected] or telephone 01208 816984.”
