RESIDENTS of Bridgerule have voiced concern that a bridge in the village will not withstand the weight of lorries going over it, after a diversion was put in place.

Mr Law, who lives in the village said part of the Holsworthy to Bude road, just after the golf club, is to be closed for six days (starting on November 18) and traffic has been diverted through Bridgerule.

He said residents received no notification of the diversion and traffic around the bridge has been horrendous.

"It took my wife ten minutes to get out of our driveway. There are 40 tonne lorries trying to get over there. The lorries don't know where they're going, The bridge is single lane and was not built to take this weight."

Mr Law noted that the primary school is located less than 100 yards across the bridge, which could also raise safety issues.
