CONCERNS have been raised that Holsworthy’s pool is not accessible to those with mobility issues, with no steps available in the shallow end.

A pool user told the Post: “Due to no steps into shallow end of pool, the management are suggesting that older people or those with mobility problems are to be hoisted in and out of the pool. I think it’s a shameful state of affairs that those who need the facility most are pretty much barred from using it.”

Although, they did add: “One of the instructors has been wonderful by allowing people to go in early to be hoisted without others watching — and staying late for the same reason!”

However, a spokesperson from 1610 confirmed the use of the hoist was only a temporary measure whilst they investigate potential solutions: “This is a temporary measure whilst we investigate looking for a suitable alternative to either repair or replace the steps.”
