THERE was a fantastic turn-out for the Camel Trail cycle ride, held recently, to raise funds for the proposed skate park in Delabole.

A total of 50 children and adults took part, and the weather was perfect.

Organisers extended thanks to all who took part, Bridge Bike Hire for a deal on the bikes, and Asda for the prizes for the draw for the children. The winners were Dylan, Cody and Theon.

A spokesperson for the skate park committee said: “A huge thank you to everyone that sponsored the children and adults and to all that took part, you did an amazing job!”

The event raised £826.65.

This event was followed by a summer fete, held at the village park.

There was plenty to keep everyone entertained, with kids games, craft stalls, a bouncy castle, tuck shop, dance workshop, hook a duck, welly wanging and face painting.

There was also a visit from the Delabole Fire Brigade.

More funds were raised through car boot stalls, refreshments and a raffle and tombola.

The event raised just over £1,000.

A planning application has been submitted to Cornwall Council to build a new spray concrete skatepark facility, which is awaiting decision.
