IT WAS not the best of nights for the annual Delabole Santa tour organised by members of the Delabole Fire and Rescue Service on Wednesday, December 21.
However, despite the thick drizzle and the fog Santa still managed to head through the streets of Delabole to wave at all the villagers.
It was a magical sight to see as many of the children gathered at the top of Pengelly waving and shouting as Santa passed by on his sleigh with the fire appliance heading the procession.
Everyone even got a slice of chocolate cake on-route, given out by a generous villager. It was overall a very well supported event, with the largest number of onlookers the event has seen.
Station manager Mark Saltern said that he was overjoyed with the support of the villagers and all the hard work by members of the brigade along with their families that came out in such bad weather.
The event was in aid of the national fire service’s benevolent fund and raised a grand total of £315.
