AFTER months of planning and discussion the Holsworthy Town Council have announced when work on the town’s new ‘Holsworthy Sports Pavilion’ will begin.

On Monday, the town council signed a works contract for the work on the new sports pavilion in Stanhope Park to be carried out by contractors Roger Andrews Ltd.

It is hoped that work will begin in the next few weeks to transform the old and tired pavilion into the town’s new ‘Holsworthy Sports Pavilion’ — an ‘Official Launch’ event will also take place in the next few weeks to celebrate the start of work on the new pavilion.

It is estimated that the project will take just over a year to complete. Funding has already been gained for the project from the town council, Torridge District Council, the Football Foundation, the English Cricket Board, local contributions and a local crowd-funding page and associated projects.

The town council said on their website that they would ‘like to thank everyone who has been involved in getting the project off the ground’.

Plans of the new facility were available to view during the Wednesday coffee morning on held yesterday between 9am and midday in the Memorial Hall.

Funds raised at the Wednesday coffee morning will be used to purchase any final furnishing for the new pavilion once it has been built.

Plans for the proposed new housing site in Holsworthy were also available to view during the coffee morning and town councillors were on hand to answer any questions the public may have.
