CROWDS were out in force is Bank Holiday weekend as residents and visitors made their way to the North Cornwall coast to get involved with Bude Lifeboat Day 2026.

Each year residents and visitors to Bude come together for an exciting day of music, fun, games and fundraising. The occasion puts on a show across the town, all in an effort to raise money for the local lifeboat station.

This year saw people come together for a number of events, with races, quizzes, and live music all entertaining the masses.

Of course, the occasion wouldn’t be the same without the Rotary Club’s international duck race, which sees the little yellow swimmers battle it out to secure a victory for their sponsors.

A spokesperson from the Rotary Club of Bude said: “In terms of facts and figures all 4,000 £1 race tickets were sold on two days at Morrisons, two days at Nanny Moore's Bridge and on race day at the bridge, the Brendon Arms and elsewhere. The net proceeds will be shared equally between the RNLI to support its vital work saving lives at sea and the Rotary Club to support its own charitable work.

“The Rotary Club sincerely thanks all of those who helped organise the race and members of the public who so generously bought tickets.”

Throughout the event, crowds consistently dig deep into their pockets to raise money for the local RNLI, a service which provides support lifesaving near and in the water all year round.

Though the final count has to be completed, organisers will be hoping to replicate the success of last year’s event, which saw more than £19,500 raised for the life-saving local cause.
