TWO men have been jailed for 27-months each for attacking an elderly man with a machete in his St Austell home.

Nathan Flower, 33, of no fixed abode, and Andrew Paull, 48, of no fixed abode in St Austell, were given a 27-month prison sentence each at Truro Crown Court after they pleaded guilty to inflicting grievous bodily harm on a man, who at the time was 82, at St Austell on April 28, 2024.

Flower also had a charge of aggravated burglary at a property in Penrice Park, St Austell, the same day, when he was alleged to have a knife and stolen bank cards and jewellery which he had denied. This will remain on file. He also pleaded guilty to shoplifting offences and admitted failing to answer bail at Truro Crown Court.

Following sentencing, Judge James Adkin also handed the pair additional restraining orders not to contact their victim until July 23, 2033.
