JOSH TAYLOR, 36, of Prestwick Lane, Grayswood, Hazelmere and TRUDY THOMPSON, 55, of Henley Fort Bungalows, The Mount, Guildford who are facing numerous fraud charges from when they ran a business in Tywardreath near Par will stand trial at Truro Crown Court on 7 September. The charges include Taylor allegedly committing fraud by false representation to obtain £33,200 from Par Bay Big Local which he claimed would be used for a bike hire business and entrepreneurial training course. Thompson is alleged to have made false representations to villagers in Tywardreath that she was intending to donate £1-million of her personal assets to support the Tywardreath Village Scheme and made false representations for the purpose of getting a loan, claiming she had a trust fund and owned two houses in Guildford, which was untrue, intending to expose a woman to risk losing £20,000. The hearing is estimated to take place over a number of weeks.

DANNEKA ANNETTS, 39, of Mount Wise, Newquay pleaded guilty to fraud by false representation when she used credit and store cards and took money at St Austell between November 2023 and January 2024. She was fined £200 and ordered to pay £150 compensation and £85 costs.

MARK BARROW, 36, of Battalion Close, Bodmin pleaded guilty at Truro Crown Court to arson with recklessness as to whether life was endangered at Battalion Close, Bodmin on 28 April. Damage to the value of £50,000 was done to the property which is owned by Ocean Housing. He also pleaded guilty to assaulting a police sergeant at Newquay Police Station on 29 April. He was remanded in custody for medical/psychiatric reports to be done and will be sentenced on 22 September.

JOHN HALE, 38, of Jubilee Close, St Columb has been sent to Truro Crown Court charged with threatening to kill, assaulting, strangling and suffocating a woman, wounding her with intent and threatening her with a knife at an address in Helston on 16 August, assaulting a police officer during the incident and assaulting the woman on 15 August. The offences were alleged to have happened when he was under a domestic violence protection order as well as on police bail. He is also charged with driving at Longrock, Penzance on 20 April with 56 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath exceeding the limit of 35 and driving without insurance. His case was listed for 15 September and he was remanded in custody.

CHRISTOPHER COSSLETT, 40, of Crescent Road, Sarn, Bridgend pleaded not guilty at Truro Crown Court to threatening to kill a woman at Looe in May 2025 but pleaded guilty to sending a communication threatening death or serious harm. He will be sentenced on 15 September.

JONATHAN SIMPSON, 32, of Sandy Lodge Hotel, Newquay was found guilty of engaging in penetrative sexual activity with a girl aged 13 to 15 at Trewoon. He was remanded in custody and will be sentenced on 2 October.

CALLUM BUTLER, 30, of Henderson Place, Plymouth pleaded not guilty at Truro Crown Court to two charges of sexually assaulting a woman at Lusty Glaze Beach, Newquay on 11 July, sexually assaulting a woman at Mitchell Hill, Truro on 12 July, sexually assaulting and strangling a woman at Seaton Beach on 13 July, sexually assaulting a woman at Perranporth Beach on 13 July and assaulting a woman at Mitchell Hill, Truro on 14 July. He will stand trial on 4 January and was remanded in custody.

JOHN HAYNES, 52, of NFA, St Austell pleaded guilty to failing to comply with notification requirements of the sex offenders register and to theft by finding of two tree planters worth £400 from Ugalde and Sons Funeral Directors on Heathlands Industrial Estate, Liskeard on 27 May, stealing six rib eye steaks worth £156 from Morrisons in Liskeard on 7 June, a tree and garden furniture from Haviland Road, Liskeard belonging to Wainhomes on 1 July and goods worth £405 from Boots in Truro on 23 July. He was given a 12-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months. Magistrates noted he has had poor compliance with court orders and a long record of offending including numerous offences of theft and dishonesty. He continues to commit high value theft offences which they believe were planned and not impulsive. They said they were willing to suspend the custodial sentence because he has the prospect of accommodation and appeared willing to engage with the probation service.

JACK MCVEY, 22, of Cosgarne Hall, Truro Road, St Austell has been made subject to a five-year sexual risk order restricting his contact with anyone under the age of 16 and his use of the internet.

JAMIE SNELL, 34, of Poldrea, Tywardreath pleaded guilty to, between 2022 and 2024, making 99 category A indecent images of a child, 84 category B images and 2784 category C images. He will be sentenced on 27 October and was released on conditional bail and must present any internet enabled devices to police when requested.

JONATHON WALKER, 51, of Pool Street, Bodmin pleaded guilty to breaching a sexual harm prevention order on 15 August and was sent to prison for 12 months. He took part in a leisure activity at Bodmin that was likely to bring him into contact with a child under the age of 16 and he possessed/used WAP enabled mobile phones and camera phones capable or recording an image which breached the order made by Plymouth Crown Court in April 2008. He was given the custodial sentence because he was only released from a long prison term in December. The court heard numerous members of the public had contacted the police when he was seen taking photographs of young children including babies and girls.

DAVID TOMKISS, 60, of Higher Bore Street, Bodmin has been sent to prison for nine months after he pleaded guilty at Truro Crown Court to exposing his genitals, intending that someone would see them and be alarmed or distressed, at Bodmin between August 2021 and January 2023 at Bodmin. The court ordered that a ‘cock ring’ which police had seized be destroyed. He has to register with the police for ten years.

JASON PAGET, 39, of The Parklands, Erdington changed his plea to guilty at Truro Crown Court on a charge of entering a flat as a burglar, armed with a taser and a cosh, at Chester Road, Newquay on 10 September 2020 and inflicting grievous bodily harm on one occupant and assaulting a second man occasioning him actual bodily harm. He was sent to prison for ten years.

ROBERT MCLEAN, 49, of HMP Leicester, has been sent to prison for 12 months after he changed his plea to guilty at Truro Crown Court on a charge of burgling Warrens Bakers in Newquay in August 2023 and stealing £2100.

TOMMY BOYLAN, 32, of Island Crescent, Newquay pleaded guilty at Truro Crown Court to assaulting a man occasioning him actual bodily harm and possessing an offensive weapon, a wooden mallet, at Constantine Bay beach in July 2023. He will be sentenced on 18 September.

THOMAS WARE, 35, of Trevithick Road, St Austell was given a 26-week custodial sentence, with 12 weeks to be spent in prison, after he breached a suspended sentence imposed for assaulting a woman occasioning her actual bodily harm at St Austell bus and railway station in March 2025. He pleaded guilty to driving on Biscovey Road, St Blazey Gate on 22 January with 800 micrograms of BZE per litre of blood exceeding the limit of 50 and to possessing 14.04 grams of cannabis and driving without a licence or insurance. He was banned from driving for 22 months. The custodial sentence was given because the offence was committed during the operational period of a suspended sentence and aggravated by previous convictions for driving offences. He deliberately tried to avoid detection, had a significant amount of cannabis in the car and was driving without a licence or insurance. He has to pay a £154 surcharge and £85 costs.

ROBERT JOHNSTON, 48, of Timber Close, St Austell pleaded not guilty at Truro Crown Court to wounding a man with intent to do him grievous bodily harm at Cornwall Neighbourhood for Change, St Austell and to possessing an offensive weapon, a hammer, on High Cross Street, St Austell but guilty to threatening to damage property at Cornwall Neighbourhood for Change on 14 July. He will stand trial on 11 January, was put on a 7pm to 7am curfew to remain at his home, must not contact any prosecution witnesses and is banned from going to an area of St Austell as marked on a map.

CODY KING, 18, of Wheal Eliza Close, St Austell pleaded guilty to assaulting a man occasioning him actual bodily harm at St Ives on New Year’s Day. He was given a 24-week prison sentence suspended for 18 months. Magistrates noted it was a horrendous assault and a deliberate and unprovoked attack when he hit his victim in the face with a bottle which smashed while he was being held and unable to defend himself. It was noted King had been given a referral order by a court two months earlier but magistrates said they had taken into account his age and lack of maturity as well as his remorse and his own vulnerabilities. He must have treatment for his mental health and get intensive support from the probation service which they believed would rehabilitate him.

KIERAN WAIT, 30, of The White Hart Hotel, St Austell pleaded guilty to assaulting a man at St Austell on 8 July and being drunk and disorderly at St Austell on 8 and 13 July. He was fined £200 and ordered to pay his victim £100 compensation and costs of £85.

JESSICA WALTERS, 34, of Belmont Road, St Austell pleaded guilty to assaulting a police officer by beating her at Launceston on 1 August and failing to provide a specimen of breath for analysis at Newquay Police Station. She will be sentenced on 1 October and was given an interim driving ban.

BRUCE BALL, 52, of Trevarthian Road, St Austell pleaded not guilty to assaulting a police officer by beating her and obstructing police at Fore Street, St Austell on 10 July. He will stand trial on 15 February.

BRANDON WOOD, 26, of Treningle View, Bodmin has been sent to prison for six years after he was found guilty at Truro Crown Court of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent on a man at Bodmin in May 2023.

LEON LEE, 18, of Castle Street, Bodmin pleaded not guilty at Truro Crown Court to assaulting a woman occasioning her actual bodily harm and strangling her at St Austell on 19 July and to possessing an axe at Bodmin Parkway Station in July 2023. He pleaded guilty to, on 19 July, assaulting a man at St Austell and damaging a bag, tablet and false teeth worth around £200. He was remanded in custody and will stand trial on 6 January.

ANDREW DICKERSON, 39, of Meadow Park, St Ive Road, Pensilva changed his plea to guilty at Truro Crown Court on a charge of assaulting a woman at Liskeard occasioning her actual bodily harm on 26 March. He will be sentenced on 15 September and was released on conditional bail not to enter Cornwall apart from court appearances.

DAVID ASHBY, 47, of NFA, Torpoint pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman at Torpoint occasioning her actual bodily harm and assaulting another woman by beating on 15 August. He will be sentenced on 13 November and was released on conditional bail not to go to an area highlighted on a map or contact his victims.

SARAH NEALE, 29, of Drinnick Cottages, South Petherwin was given a 12-month conditional discharge after she changed her plea to guilty on a charge of assaulting a police officer at Drinnick Cottages on 24 February. She has to pay a £26 surcharge and £150 costs.

TIMOTHY NEWCOMBE, 45, of Coastguard Cottages, Pier Lane, Cawsand has been sent to Truro Crown Court charged with, between April 2025 and March 2026, sending a message threatening to set someone on fire. His case was listed for 11 September and he was released on conditional bail not to enter an address on Coombe Park, Cawsand or Cawsand Park or contact a woman.

STEPHEN EDWARDS, 46, now of Clinton Street, Exeter has been sent to Truro Crown Court charged with stealing a laptop from a home at Trelights, Port Issac on 12 August and engaging in coercive behaviour between 2023 and 2026. He is alleged to have used violence and threats of violence, caused damage, humiliated and degraded his victim and monitored her movements via social, work and phone. His case will be heard on 11 September and he was released on conditional bail not to enter Cornwall apart from to attend his former home in Trelights to pick up his property and not to contact his alleged victim. He must live and sleep in his room at Clifton Street, Exeter.

JOHN HALE, 38, of Jubilee Close, St Columb admitted breaching a domestic violence protection notice on 16 August when he entered an address in Helson and assaulted a woman. He was sent to prison for four weeks because it was a prolonged and violent assault whilst on a DVPO.

JOSHUA ANDREWS, 34, of Nanturras Way, Goldsithney was made subject to a 28-day domestic violence protection notice on 14 August not to contact or threaten a woman or enter Saltash apart from to collect his property.

BEN BURNAGE, 24, of Greenbank, Polruan pleaded guilty at Truro Crown Court to robbing a man of money at Bude in July 2024. He will be sentenced on 11 October and was released on conditional bail not to go to Puffin Close, Sandpiper Road, Cleavelands or Shearwater Drive or contact four people.

DAVID WALKER, 45, of Tredragon Road, Mawgan Porth has been sent to Truro Crown Court charged with, at Century Place, Newquay on 9 April, having an axe in a public place, putting a woman in fear of violence by sending her threatening messages, causing £22,000 worth of damage to a van and, on the same day at Roche, driving with 43 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath exceeding the limit of 35. His case was listed for 11 September and he was released on conditional bail not to contact a man and a woman or go to an area shown on a map including Lewarne Road, Century Court, Henver Road and St Columb Minor save to attend an address in Carpmael Avenue, Trencreek to pick up his belongings.

NEVILLE BLAIR, 56, of Slades Road, St Austell pleaded guilty to possessing a kitchen knife with a 15cm blade on Slades Road on 22 December. He was given a three-month custodial sentence because the offence was ‘so serious’ but it was suspended for 12 months. Magistrates acknowledged he has difficult personal circumstances with a mental disorder and serious medical condition requiring intensive and long-term treatment. They said there was ‘realistic prospect of rehabilitation in the community’. He has to pay a £154 surcharge and £85 costs.

ZACHARIA HOWSE, 34, of NFA, St Austell pleaded guilty at Truro Crown Court to threatening violence between 17 and 20 July and guilty to assaulting a police officer at Market Hill, St Austell on 19 July but not guilty to threatening a man with a knife at North Street, St Austell on 18 July. He was remanded in custody for pre-sentence reports.

NICHOLAS CRAZE, 57, of Springfield Road, Liskeard pleaded guilty at Truro Crown Court to possessing a knife at Springfield Road on 8 June. He will be sentenced on 18 September and was released on conditional bail not to contact seven people.

CARLOS PLANT, 45, of Carbis House, Eastbourne Road, St Austell pleaded guilty to possessing 1.93g of cocaine at St Austell on 24 June. He was fined £120 and ordered to pay £85 costs.

SCOTT OWEN, 35, of Barn Park, Lostwithiel pleaded guilty to, between August and October 2024, being concerned in the fraudulent evasion of the prohibition on importing cannabis and, between May and December 2024 at Bodmin, supplying cannabis resin and cannabis.

MICHAEL BERRY, 57, of Queen Street, Lostwithiel who will be back in court on 21 August after pleading guilty to charges of assaulting a woman, damaging the door of a property on Bodmin Hill, Lostwithiel and damaging handcuffs at Newquay Police Station in May 2025 and assaulting a man at The Old Tannery, Fore Street, Lostwithiel in March 2025. The case was adjourned until 21 August to tie up with other matters and he was released on conditional bail not to enter an address on Bodmin Hill, Lostwithiel or go to The Old Tannery, Lostwithiel or loiter on Guildhall Lane, Lostwithiel. He must not contact two men and a woman.

LUKE KELSEY, 40, of Vernon Close, Coventry pleaded guilty to, at Callington in November 2023, to acquiring or having in his possession criminal property namely £2030 cash. He was committed to Truro Crown Court for sentence on 11 September.

GEORGIANA ROUA, 27, of Minorca Lane, Bugle pleaded guilty to stealing £300 worth of goods from TK Maxx in St Austell on 6 March, £621 worth of goods from TK Maxx in Truro on 11 March, £566 worth on 7 June and £80 worth on 15 June and £170 worth of goods from The Range in Truro on 30 July. She will be sentenced on 1 October when a Romanian interpreter will be present.

KARL ABBOTT, 31, of Indus Street, Liskeard pleaded not guilty to causing £931 worth of damage to a Nissan Qashqai at Liskeard on 9 November. He will stand trial on 10 March.

MATTHEW MUNDAY, 36, of Paull Road, Bodmin pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly on Fore Street, Bodmin on 25 May. His case was adjourned until 9 October to tie up with other matters.

LEWIS TERRESFIELD, 36, of NFA, Bodmin pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly at Looe on 25 July. He was fined £40 and ordered to pay a £16 surcharge and £85 costs.

JORDAN DULSON, 35, of Orchard Road, St Austell pleaded guilty to driving on Ranelagh Road, St Austell on 9 February with 800 micrograms of BZE per litre of blood exceeding the limit of 50. He was given a community order to have treatment for his drug use, was ordered to do 80 hours unpaid work and banned from driving for 36 months. He has to pay a £114 surcharge and £85 costs.

ANDREW CLACHER, 44, of Upper Rowe Court, Dobwalls pleaded guilty to driving on Fairpark Road, Liskeard on 7 March with 32 micrograms of cocaine per litre of blood exceeding the limit of ten and possessing 0.1g of cocaine. He was banned from driving for 14 months, fined £120 and ordered to pay a £48 surcharge and £85 costs.

DAMIAN O’SHEA, 54, of Market View, St Neot pleaded guilty to driving whilst unfit through drink on the A38 at Dobwalls on 15 July. He was banned from driving for 12 months which will be reduced by three months if he completes a course, fined £120 and ordered to pay a £48 surcharge and £85 costs.

HARVEY ALDRIDGE, 22, of Trebursye Road, Launceston, who was found guilty of driving on the B3254 at Yeolmbridge on 17 February 2025 with 80 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath exceeding the limit of 35, has been banned from driving for 21 months which will be reduced by 21 weeks if he completes a course. He has to pay £650 costs.

HARVEY ALDRIDGE, 24, of Trebursye Road, Launceston pleaded guilty to hitting and damaging a wall in a van on the B3254 at Yeolmbridge in February 2025 and failing to report the accident and to permitting the van to rest on the road so as to involve a danger. He was given a community order and put on a four-month curfew to remain at his home daily from 8pm to 6am.
