THE leader of Devon County Council will visit Holsworthy next month as part of his 'Tough Choices' roadshow.
Leader John Hart will be at Holsworthy Memorial Hall on Thursday, December 4 for a public meeting about the county council's future saving and spending.
Over the past four years the county council's funding has had to make cuts of 27% as a result of a Government squeeze on local government spending. So far the council has saved £128-million in Devon.
This year (2015/16) a further saving of £50-million is required as a result of the Government's latest Comprehensive Spending Review, followed by a saving of at least £34-million in 2016/17.
Cllr Hart said: "Each year it is harder and harder to balance the budget and meet our core duties such as protecting children and supporting the elderly and vulnerable. To continue to do the best we can for Devon residents we have to look at everything we do and the way we do it. This means making some tough choices."
