CORMAC Solutions Ltd, Cornwall Council's highways service provider, recently installed a pedestrian refuge crossing at the entrance to Launceston College, but concerned residents feel is has created greater danger to students, writes Natalie Venning.

A Launceston resident, who wishes to remain anonymous, contacted the 'Post' as he witnessed "eight of the 15 school buses mount the pavement" as they entered the car park at the entrance to the college.

The crossing had been placed to help students and members of the public cross the wide stretch of road safely, but the resident feels that the road has now been left too narrow for school buses that use the entrance twice a day.
