LAUNCESTON town councillors have given their permission for another piece of play equipment to be installed at the new Lanstephan Area Play Park.

The site, which had been transformed from disused land to a park brightened up with play equipment and planters thanks to the work of the Lanstephan Area Play Park Group, was recently handed over to the town council from Cornwall Council. This means the town council will now maintain the site, off St Mary’s Road.

The group has some funds left over and asked for the town council’s permission to put this towards a new piece of play equipment for younger children.

This was granted at a meeting on June 20, so now the group will try to raise the rest of the funds to install a ‘sit-in bumble bee spring rocker’.

It is hoped there will be an official handover ceremony soon to enable the group to thank all those who gave grants and contributed to the new park.
