The Cornwall Community Foundation’s Cornwall Club, based in Lawhittion, welcomed guests to a drinks reception at Goldsmiths Hall, London, on Monday 4th April to celebrate Cornwall. The Cornwall Club is an opportunity for people who love Cornwall but live and work elsewhere, to support communities in need in the county.

Cornwall Club Chair and CCF Trustee, Tom Van Oss says, “It was great to be able to meet in person to thank our Cornwall Club members for their support and welcome new donors and potential members. It’s heart warming that so many people who live outside Cornwall are enthusiastic and generous in supporting people facing challenges in Cornwall.”

The speakers shone a light on the very real challenges people and communities in Cornwall are facing due to the pandemic and the cost of living crisis and how grants from Cornwall Community Foundation make a lasting impact.

Peter Harrison said, “When I recently founded Cornwall’s Social Enterprise Fund with my family, we set out to support 50 social enterprises. To date, we have awarded 21 grants and can already see how this activity is creating jobs, employment and training, as well as enhancing communities. I encourage other donors to come forward to help the Foundation change lives in Cornwall making the county a better place to live and work.”

Tamas Haydu, Chief Executive of the Foundation adds, “After two years away, we are delighted to have once again been able to welcome Cornwall Club members and guests to our London Drinks in the wonderful surroundings of Goldsmiths Hall. We are very grateful to the generosity of our event main sponsors: Savills, JB Estates and CCLA Good Investments without whom it would not be possible.”

Guests also enjoyed delicious drinks from Camel Valley Vineyard, Navas Drinks and Sipsmith Gin.
