SIX holiday parks in Cornwall are part of a major takeover by a European fund management group, which says it is looking to “write the next chapter” of the group's story.
Park Holidays UK, which was formerly owned by US-based real estate investment trust Sun Communities, has been acquired by Aermont Capital, a European asset management group focused on real estate and real estate related investment activities..
The Cornwall parks included in the acquisition are: Bodmin Holiday Park and Hengar Manor Holiday Park in Bodmin; Pentire Coastal Holiday Park, Bude; Polperro Holiday Park, Looe; Trevella Holiday Park, Newquay; and Par Sands Coastal Holiday Park, Par.
Hedley Wood Holiday Park in Holsworthy is also part of the acquisition.
The company says the change in ownership marks a “significant milestone” for the business and will provide a strong platform for continued investment, growth and the ongoing enhancement of the parks both in Cornwall and beyond.
Park Holidays UK is one of Britain's largest operators, having acquired 56 holiday parks across England, Wales and Scotland. They say that while ownership of the business has changed, the day-to-day operation of the business will remain unchanged.
Jeff Sills, chief executive officer of Park Holidays UK, said: "Today marks the start of an exciting new chapter for our business. With Aermont's backing, we look forward to building on our strong foundations, continuing to invest in our parks, our people and our customer experience, while pursuing the opportunities ahead."
Aermont is known for owning shopping centres, multiplex cinemas and film production studios across Europe. This latest acquisition has been welcomed by the team, who said they are keen to help "write the next chapter in the group's success story".
