A PIVOTAL road in Camelford is scheduled to be closed for around ten weeks to allow essential maintenance works to take place in October. The subject area of the closure will be Fore Street on the A39 and concern has been raised that this will disturb business trading and could even stop people from visiting the town.
The closure will begin at the junction of Clease Road and will continue down Fore Street, Market Place and then will terminate at the bridge on Victoria Road.
As Cornwall Council's Highways team had planned to re-surface the road, works on the town's sewerage system were brought forward by water supply and sewerage utility company South West Water to allow both jobs to coincide with one another.
An emergency meeting was held by the town's Chamber of Commerce on Monday (August 22) and the town council had planned to hold a meeting last night (Wednesday).
