A celebration was held in Bude this week, as children from across the area commemorated the historic Compass Point Project.

The children of Bude displayed their artistic talents as part of the event.

Children were tasked with capturing Bude’s Storm Tower in an artistic way, and with more than 250 entries,  mayor Cllr Michael Dawe and Cornwall councillor Peter La Broy had a difficult job choosing who to crown in third, second and first place within each age category.

Winners received art materials and a well-deserved certificate, with first and second place winners also rewarded with cash prizes.

Scooping the grand prize however, was Luca Tyrell with his picture of the sun rising behind the iconic Pepper Pot.

His prize, a 1/100 limited edition print of the original architect’s drawings of the Storm Tower.

A spokesperson from the event said: “We’d like to thank everyone who joined us.

“It was fantastic to showcase your artistic talents and celebrate together. We hope you had a fantastic time – and enjoyed the cake too!”
