AROUND 100 Parishioners and other interested parties attended a meeting on Monday, February 27 at the Bray Institute, Marhamchurch to launch a Community Share Issue for Marhamchurch Village Shop Limited.

It will provide a local food store, newsagents and mini Post Office for the village and its wider community. Shares are being issued at £10 each. The meeting was told by director Linda Mason that the "shares must be regarded as a social investment and not a financial investment, as they carry no right to dividend interest or bonus."

The monies raised through the community share offer will be used to finance a new building for the shop.

The Directors of Marhamchurch Village Shop Limited — a community benefit society — Peter Hillenbrand, Alan Bailey, Hilary Foster and Linda Mason are keen to have as many people as possible in the village to participate in the scheme, as 'the more we raise ourselves, the greater the potential grants we may obtain.'
