IT is set to be a busy Christmas season for Camelford’s popular running group after it confirmed details of its annual festive run around the town.

Camelford Up and Running have confirmed that they will be bringing Christmas cheer to the town at the start of December with their annual Santa run which will take place on December 6.

There is set to be at least 15 runners dressed in a variety of festive regalia taking part in the event, with many of them running the full 12 miles distance.

Camelford Up and Running have confirmed that all of the proceeds from the event going to the NSPCC, which is the chosen charity of one of the runners who is taking part in the 2027 London Marathon.

It is set to be a busy festive season for Camelford Up and Running, who will also spend a day in December running 33 different towns in Cornwall as one of their centrepiece challenges across the year.

The group have said they are both looking for people who wish to take part in the event, whether in full or in part, and also to join in the crowds along the route – with each child seen on the run set to be given a gift.

There is a suggested donation of £5 for each Santa runner taking part which will help pay for the treats and go towards the charitable fundraising.

Matt Allan, one of the leaders of Camelford Up and Running said: “You're Invited to join us to run every road of Camelford on Sunday, December 6.

“We will be starting from the Bandstand at 12 midday.

“Santa/Christmas fancy dress is essential, but running the full 12 miles isn't.

“Many of us will be running every road, but for those who may find that a little too far, corners can easily be cut or even some roads missed, to make it a little easier.

“The roads on the Chip Shop side of the river will add up to be approximately 4 miles, and the roads on the Spar side of the river will add up to be approximately 7 miles

“We are suggesting a £5 donation from each Santa taking part. This will help us to raise a little money and pay for a small treat to be given to each child who we see on route.

“All online and cash donations received, will be donated to the NSPCC.

“The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children is the charity our daughter Hollie is running the London Marathon for in 2027.

“This run will be a lot of fun for those taking part, and for those looking out for us around town so please join us if you can.

“Our Santa Run will finish at The Conservative Club. All Santas and Santa Supporters are very welcome to join us for a takeaway tea.

“We are ordering tea for 6.30pm.

“We can eat this in The Conservative Club and we will then stay the evening for our fun, Christmas Social.”
