THE timeline for works to refurbish a community centre has been revealed.

The Old Bank and Community Larder in Camelford is set to close for at least a month for the building to be refurbished.

Its last food club will take place on Wednesday, May 15, before the final event, the Saturday stock up event, which will take place on May 18.

After the two events, the venue will be closed for approximately a month, with June 24 being the earliest that the Old Bank and Community Larder will reopen.

Ahead of the refurbishment, the group behind the community space have launched an appeal for volunteers to help them get it ready for the refurbishment.

They are seeking individuals who can help with lifting flooring, moving food and furniture and have said that any help is appreciated, with lunch and drinks provided during the time that volunteers are assisting.

A spokesperson for the Old Bank and Community Larder said: “We have now received the timeline for the refurbishment. This post contains important information if you attend Saturday Stock Up and food club. We will have to close for a minimum of a month, this is the shortest time possible.

“The last Saturday Stock Up will take place on May 18. The last food club will take place on Wednesday, May 15. We will then remain closed until June 24 at the earliest. I’m sure that with most building projects, we will come across the odd problem or two so these times might need to change. If you come along to food club, please come and speak to us about extra food that will be available the last week we are open.

“At the beginning of May, you will see the scaffolding going up and the windows being replaced. We are super excited to kick off the refurbishment!

“We have a lot of work to do ready for the refurbishment, essentially, we must empty the entire ground floor. We would like to ask for as much help as possible on Sunday April 21, from 10am. We are planning on having a workday to get done as much as possible. Would you be available to come and help us?

“We have flooring to take up, food to move, furniture to take upstairs and a whole host of other things. We would greatly appreciate any help you could give. Remember, the building is run by the community for the community and Camelford is amazing at coming together when needed. Please come and give us a hand! Drinks and lunch will be provided. Please let us know if you can help.

“Let the refurbishment commence!”
