THE popular community café run by Gateway Church at the Gateway Centre in Launceston re-opened on June 1 under the new name ‘Café Avodah’.
The café is now open 10am to 2pm on weekdays and 10am to 1.30pm on Saturdays.
Gateway Centre business manager Vanessa Tyler said: “Avodah is the Hebrew word meaning work, worship and service and has been chosen to reflect the continued commitment of the church to support the people of Launceston whatever their background, belief or circumstances.
“The café will be run by our new café managers, Teresa Pickup and Chelo Bate, supported by a team of volunteers.
“A variety of drinks, cakes and light meals will be served, including high quality coffees from our newly-installed barista machine!”
Café Avodah will again be hosting various groups on their ‘Community Table’, which is available free of charge to the community to hold informal gatherings and chats.
As the Post went to press the centre had confirmed the resumption of the Knit and Natter group every Thursday from 10am to 1.30pm and Launceston Stroke Support Group will also be resuming their monthly meetings. To book the table just pop in and talk to the team.
